A Hydrostatic Test, or Static Test, is a diagnistic test designed to verify the integrity of a sewer system. By introducing water into the pipes and monitoring the static level, professionals can detect leaks that might not be visible to the naked eye. This method is particularly effective for identifying issues in underground or slab foundation plumbing.
This expansion force is strong enough to lift your home off the ground unevenly and cause your foundation to crack or your home to shift. This shift can make the damage to your pipes worse in turn causing more water to leak and making the shifts worse.
Have you seen cracks in your walls or worse in your floors? These are common signs that your foundation is shifting and that you could have damaged pipes compounding this issue.
A home is only as good as its foundation, and after prolonged exposure to water leakage your foundation will eventually become damaged and that damage will spread across your home. Don’t wait for the issue to get worse call to schedule your test.
The short answer is no.
Hydrostatic tests are a safe and efficient way to test the integrity of a plumbing system without damage.
A hydrostatic pressure test does not actually put pressure on your pipes. We test the water pressure in your home and then separately test the integrity of the drainage system in your home. The drainage portion of the test does not include pressurizing any thing. We simply fill the pipes with water and watch for leaks. See our section on how a test is performed above to learn more.
The average duration of a hydrostatic test is 30 minutes to an hour, but can vary depending on certain situations.
In order to properly perform a hydrostatic test, we need access to a drain that is level with your floors.
A walk in shower provides this drain access and is perfect for performing your test quickly and efficeintly.
Yes, a plumbing cleanout is required to test your homes drainage system.
Why is it required?
The cleanout is the last stop as water leaves your home. We must have access to a cleanout in order to prevent water from leaving your drainage system. Without this we cannot fill your drain pipes with water to test their integrity.
What if my home doesn’t have a cleanout or one can’t be found?
We offer both cleanout installation services and cleanout locating services.
In the event that your home does not have a walk in shower or stand alone shower, we have to remove the toilet in order to access a floor level drain. This drain is required for us to monitor the water level in your system to verify the integrity of the plumbing system.
When a sewer system fails a hydro static test, it means there is a leak under your foundation.
Equipped with cutting-edge imaging technology, our team meticulously inspects your sewer system to identify and pinpoint any potential issues. Upon discovering a break, we thoroughly test different sections of the system to ensure the system’s integrity and locate any issues.
This method ensures that we find any defects, even if they aren’t visible.
After we locate the problems we will map out the reapir process and give you an estimate.

The Bearded Plumber was an immediate help and at a great competitive price after Roto-Rooter discovered a break in the line by my sewer clean out and quoted a very expensive repair price. Anthony and Angel were quick and helpful, explaining what they needed to do and time frames. When it backed up because of that break, they were able to expedite my repair and get the work done quickly, as well as performing a complimentary hydrostatic test to ensure that the drain lines weren't leaking anywhere under the house.
